Company & Culture

As part of our core values, MPE strongly believes in corporate social responsibility within the community in which we live and that sustains our business. Therefore, we have committed to investing time, resources and money in selected charitable and humanitarian activities. We also promote participation from our employees in these events, recognizing that this too is a very important part of how we do business. When we give back, everybody wins.

Some of the recent charity events we have supported:

MPE joins Canadians, the hockey community and people from around the world in mourning the devastating loss endured by the Humboldt Broncos Junior hockey team, their families and the province of Saskatchewan.
MPE was able to raise over $8300 from employees in our seven offices in support of those affected by this terrible tragedy.

Concerned with improving the state of men’s health, MPE has corporately supported MOVEMBER for several years. MPE, along with many staff members, teamed together to make a positive impact on this important health issue by participating in the Movember MO or MOVE challenge to raise funds for this important cause.

Through a wide range of fundraising events and personal donations, the MPE MO team raised a total $8,800. This amount, combined with a $5,000 corporate contribution resulted in an overall donation from MPE in the amount of $13,800.

Giving back to the community and supporting worthwhile charities reflects MPE’s core values and we are again very pleased to support MOVEMBER in 2016.

Canadian Red Cross

Movember is the month formerly known as November, where men and women across the globe join together to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues. Funds raised are committed to changing the face of men’s health and help fund programs working to improve the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues.

All of the MPE offices participated in this event and ended up raising over $5,400 to support Movember. MPE made a corporate donation of the same amount, so a total of almost $11,000 was donated to this fantastic cause. Here are a few choice Movember Moustaches… WELL DONE EVERYONE!!

“Dress for the Cause”
“Dress for the Cause” is an annual fundraiser held by the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. MPE Calgary participate in 2014 by dressing our office in pink and holding a fundraising party, a pot-luck lunch and raffle with proceeds going to the cause. Two members of the staff also volunteered to shave their heads which raised over $1700 for life-saving breast cancer research.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
In August 2014, MPE participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Each office prepared their own challenge video and then staff members “took the plunge” under buckets of Icy Water. Overall, the global Ice Bucket Challenge increased the association’s typical fundraising ten-fold and is helping to expedite research into the debilitating Lou Gehrig’s disease. Company-wide, MPE raised $3,000 and helped raise awareness of ALS through our efforts.
Spin for Strong Kids Campaign

On March 5, 2012, Randy Boras of our Calgary office took part in a spin session for an hour at the Calgary Crowfoot YMCA.  He raised $3,785, most of which came from the generous support of MPE staff in all offices.  This helped the local YMCA raise just under $19,000.  The program provides support for kids and families in the community, offering the safe and active environment of the YMCA.

Alberta Cancer Foundation - Underwear Affair
On Sunday, June 4, 2011, four MPE employees particpated in the Underwear Affair - a charity 10 km run that supports the detection and brings awareness to cancers below the waist.  In support of the run, the Calgary office held a bake sale which helped to bring the total donation to over $1,500.  Corporately, MPE matched the funds raised by the bake sale.
CIBC Run for the Cure
From 2008 on, MPE staff members participate annually in the CIBC Run for the Cure to help raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. They have tremendous success and fun in participating in this event. The Team, called MPE Running for Answer to Cancer, has raised more than $12,000 from fundraising activities including draws for Flames Playoff tickets, a Stampede Breakfast, a Silent Auction and personal donations.

As well, various social events and sporting activities are corporately supported and participation encouraged from all of our employees.
