As part of our core values, MPE strongly believes in corporate social responsibility within the community in which we live and that sustains our business. Therefore, we have committed to investing time, resources and money in selected charitable and humanitarian activities. We also promote participation from our employees in these events, recognizing that this too is a very important part of how we do business. When we give back, everybody wins.

Some of the recent charity events we have supported:

Spin for Strong Kids Campaign

On March 5, 2012, Randy Boras of our Calgary office took part in a spin session for an hour at the Calgary Crowfoot YMCA. He raised $3,785, most of which came from the generous support of MPE staff in all offices. This helped the local YMCA raise just under $19,000. The program provides support for kids and families in the community, offering the safe and active environment of the YMCA.

Alberta Cancer Foundation - Underwear Affair
On Sunday, June 4, 2011, four MPE employees particpated in the Underwear Affair - a charity 10 km run that supports the detection and brings awareness to cancers below the waist. In support of the run, the Calgary office held a bake sale which helped to bring the total donation to over $1,500. Corporately, MPE matched the funds raised by the bake sale.

CIBC Run for the Cure
From 2008 on, MPE staff members participate annually in the CIBC Run for the Cure to help raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. They have tremendous success and fun in participating in this event. The Team, called MPE Running for Answer to Cancer, has raised more than $12,000 from fundraising activities including draws for Flames Playoff tickets, a Stampede Breakfast, a Silent Auction and personal donations.

As well, various social events and sporting activities are corporately supported and participation encouraged from all of our employees.

MPE Engineering Ltd. corporately sponsors various local charities as well. Some of these include:

25th Anniversary Celebration - 2008
In recognition of the company's 25th anniversary, MPE held an Anniversary Celebration at Alberta Springs Golf Course in Red Deer in 2008. This was a weekend event with all staff and family members present, with various activities such as golfing, canoeing, and horseback riding followed by a dinner & presentation. There were over 250 who attended.

MPE also sponsors many events throughout the year for staff, including bowling parties, year-end parties with limo service/hotel accommodation provided, and family barbeques. We also have a social committee in each office that plans various activities for staff through the year.
